Dipped Donuts Kensington Market
We started in Kensington Market.
Our first shop opened here in 2018, at 161 Baldwin Street. It is a small 300 sq ft space, right in the middle of the market.
Kensington Market has always been the right place for Dipped. It is busy, independent and full of people who know where to find good food. Some people come here with a plan. Most people end up walking around, stopping at a few places and finding something they did not expect.
We are part of that.
If you are looking for a quick dessert stop while walking through Kensington Market, exploring Chinatown or spending the day downtown, come by Baldwin Street.
Fresh Gourmet Donuts in Kensington Market
We started Dipped because Toronto needed better donuts.
Not bigger for the sake of being bigger. Not overloaded with toppings that look good but do not add much. Just proper yeast donuts that are light, fresh and made with flavors that actually work together.
Some are familiar. Some are not.
You might find a classic brown butter sea salt donut. You might find something filled, glazed or covered in a combination that sounds strange until you try it (like our cheetos donut). That has always been part of Dipped.
The menu changes. The favorites come back. New ideas get added. Sometimes the flavor you came in for is gone because people got there before you.
That is how it goes when things are made fresh.
Our Kensington Market location is where many of those ideas started. It is where we tested flavors, built regulars and learned what people come back for. Over time, this little Baldwin Street bakery became a stop for people who live nearby, people working downtown, students, tourists and anyone who has heard that the donuts are worth trying.
A Baldwin Street Bakery Worth Finding
Baldwin Street is one of the streets that makes Kensington Market what it is.
It is close to everything, but it does not feel like the rest of downtown Toronto. There are small businesses, grocery shops, restaurants, cafés, vintage stores and people moving through all day.
Dipped sits right in the middle of it.
Our shop is small, and most of the space goes into making the donuts. Our donuts are facing the street so that when you walk past – you have to come in. On busy days, there might be a line outside. On quieter days, you can take your time.
Either way, you are usually only a few steps from somewhere good to eat, somewhere good to browse or somewhere good to sit outside with a donut in hand.
That is the advantage of being in Kensington Market.
There is no need to make a whole trip out of it, although plenty of people do. Stop by while you are in the neighborhood. Grab a box before heading home. Bring some to work. Pick up a few before meeting friends.
Or just get one and keep walking.
Near Chinatown, University of Toronto and Downtown West Toronto
Dipped Donuts Kensington Market is easy to work into a day around downtown west Toronto.
We are close to Chinatown, just west of Spadina Avenue and a short walk from many of the restaurants, shops and markets around Spadina and Dundas Street West. Whether you are coming for lunch, heading through the area or looking for something sweet after dinner, Baldwin Street is close enough to make it an easy stop.
We are also near Bellevue Square Park, one of the familiar meeting points in Kensington Market. If you are already walking around the Market, browsing the side streets or spending time near the park, Dipped is nearby.
For University of Toronto students, staff and visitors, our Kensington Market shop is also within easy walking distance of the St. George campus. It is a good stop between classes, after a library session or before heading back across campus.
The same goes for people spending the day around College Street, Queen Street West, the Annex or downtown Toronto.
You do not need a special occasion for a donut.
But it does not hurt.

You can also reach the area from nearby subway stations and walk through Chinatown or the University of Toronto campus, depending on where you are coming from.

If you are driving, leave a little extra time. Once you are parked, take a walk around the market before or after you stop by. It is better that way.
More Than Just Donuts
We care about our customers
Some people come in for a donut before work. Some stop in for an afternoon pick-me-up. Some grab a box for later
There is no wrong way to do it.
We also make donuts for birthdays, showers, office events, brand activations and celebrations around Toronto. A box of Dipped works when you need something easy that people will actually be excited about.
For larger orders, catering or custom requests, get in touch before your event so we can help you figure out what makes sense.

Why Kensington Market Is Still Home
Dipped has grown since opening on Baldwin Street, but Kensington Market is still where the story starts.
This is where the first batches came out. Where the first people lined up. Where we learned which flavors people loved, which ones they wanted to see again and which ideas were a little too far out.
It is also where we became part of the neighborhood.
Kensington has regulars. It has visitors. It has people who know every corner of the market and people seeing it for the first time. We get all of them.
Some people come in every week. Some come back whenever they are in Toronto. Some have been told by a friend that they need to try the brown butter sea salt. Some just see the window and walk in.
That mix is part of what makes this location work.
We are not trying to be the biggest shop in the city.
We just want to make donuts worth coming back for.
